Canada: Day 2&3 to Jasper

My foot is lovely. On the last day in Mexico I got a nice bug bite on my toe 😦 right between the toesies so that it rubs it when I walk.100_8664 After walking around the aquarium, its gotten a bit ugly. Its a blessing though that its not getting too bad. A band aid and some anti-itch cream keeps it nice and safe πŸ™‚ Now that we’ll be traveling in the car a bit, its not too bad!

We got a rental car! A nice black Volvo, very classy for our mountainous road trip πŸ™‚

Can you spot Raul?

Anyway, it was a long way to Jasper, we stopped in Kamloops along the way! A very small town with very fun things. The most fun thing was going to Hello Toast!! One of the cutest restaurants ever πŸ™‚ It’s the best! Well ok, not the best… but very cool. The windows, or “windows” are actually like garage doors that pull up and down. I noticed now, that every time I go into a store/ restaurant/ bakery, I think about the bakery that I want to own, what I want it to look like and what I want to sell. I gathered quite a few ideas at Hello Toast… so much so that I had a dream about it.

100_8702Other fun things were stopping at a very cool bridge over looking a nice waterfall and river! It felt adventurous crossing it. Then we took a nice walk/ hike all the way to a lake… unfortunately I forgot what the lake was called… I believe it was rice lake.

I realized that maple trees are extremely beautiful and the leaves look delicious… like Tree Stars :3

We also got to go see the salmon run! It was extremely difficult to take pictures because the salmon are similar to the rocks in color. They were very large, probably 3-4ft in size. They would sway their tails to stay in one spot and all of the sudden spurt forward in an effort to travel a little more up stream. Every once in a while we would see one floating back from upstream, too tiredΒ  to stop its self. So sad, 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. They were quite amazing! I would have liked to see a whole heard of them but we did get to see a little over 20 salmon while walking up the stream a bit.

Although going to Jasper was a lot of driving and car time, it was a lot of fun πŸ˜€ I’m so blessed to have such a wonderful and fun family. Last week some of my friends told me I was silly. I think the silliness definitely comes from my family. We’re all just silly people. We have a lot of fun together no matter what we’re doing. I thought it was hilarious that even while walking through beautiful woods and mountains, we can seriously/ jokingly talk about how we forgot to bring our pokeballs to catch the cute woodland animals.

One of the most exciting things… ok, well different things we did in Jasper was

100_8909 eat at this restaurant (which was waaaaayyy expensive). The waitress probably thought I was vegetarian because I ordered vegetarian food after trying to convince my mom to order the vegetarian lasagna (but that’s just because I think vegetarian lasagna is delicious and I don’t like sausage). Anyway, it was one of the coolest dishes ever! Delicious mashed potatoes with a huge mushroom, a nice slab of fried hard tofu, nice crunchy fried onions, spaghetti-ed carrots and other veggies, and a nice swirl of teryaki sauce around it. Yummies πŸ™‚

Other exciting things in town included several churches right next to each other100_8931, Jasper the friendly bear, planters filled with pine cones (what a marvelous idea!), and a nice art collection of ridiculously high priced art from the community.

This is Jasper the bear, isn’t he cute πŸ™‚
